Customer Reviews

GARDMAN 5 Tier Heavy-Duty Growhouse4
This is an excellent Product. It is very sturdy on level surface. It slants a bit after some heavy sun exposure on an uneven surface. However, no ventilation when zipped up brings the rating down from five to four. Anybody purchasing this product should consider adding a fan to avoid mold. I would also add two holes at the top covered by insects netting to allow some moisture to escape. The frame also allow for adding your own automated mist system which makes the product self maintaining.

I've grown 12 different types of hot peppers, cabbage, cucumber, onion, tomatoes, corn, and everything sprouts in matter of days.

I highly recommend this product.

Very nice product5
This is a nice product. It assembles very easily and is sturdy when assembled. The shelves are big enough to hold two of the flat boxes from a nursery. The cover and zipper are strong and of good quality. It keeps the inside warm even on cloudy Seattle days.

My only concern is about wind. A strong wind could blow this over, especially if it is lightly loaded.

This is NOT a "Heavy-Duty" Greenhouse as advertised2
Potential customers should notice what you cannot see in the picture: the "heavy duty" reinforced cover all but hides the shelf's framework. When it arrived, I was shocked at how light the box was. Why does the shelf weigh so little? What does the plastic cover hide? The "steel" shelves are a thin hollow tube which gets pushed into end-pieces to make the shelf's framework. With exposure to the rain and sun I wouldn't be surprised if the shelves start rusting immediately.

You get a stack of thin wired trays, two per shelf, that sit on the frame. When you lightly place your hand (or a pot) on the back of the shelf, the wire frame on the front sticks up, as you'd expect such a flimsy frame to do.

As another reviewer noted, "It slants a bit after some heavy sun exposure on an uneven surface." That's because the end-pieces are made of a black plastic that warps. One of them came out of the box slightly warped. I don't expect this shelf to last more than a couple of years. Nothing on this unit ties down, nothing bolts down, and it is all so cheap that it wouldn't matter for long anyway because you'll be sending it to your local landfill after a couple of years.

Gardman has about $10 worth of parts, to be generous, in the materials that make up this shelf. I have no complaint about a company making a profit. That's the only way to stay in business. But this shelf is way over-priced for what you get. It's a $30 product selling for $59.
